About Me

When I think of my life, I think of 3 major things; I work, I play, and I go to school. This got me thinking, how can I bring this into my photography, and I came up with my theme “The Work, The Play and The Everyday”. Most people can relate to this in some way or another.

I have grown up being outside and active. When I came to school I had some knowledge of of flash but never thought to use it outside. Now I like to use small flash to create beautiful outdoor portraits of everyday people in everyday settings. In my Environmental Portrait it was raining so instead of waiting for it to be nice I used what was given to me because you are not always going to have nice weather, especially when you live where we do. I like to incorporate the elements into my images because it shows that I can adapt to the conditions and still produce beautiful images.

A lot of people were confused when I chose to shot tacos for my food assignment. The reason why I chose tacos was because it is a meal that doesn’t take a lot of effort and people have fun when they make them. It is also something that you usually make with other people and make it into an event. This works perfectly with my theme because in a sense you are playing while making them.

When you think of work you think of very professional and structured. My Architecture is just that. The building also happens to be where I work. Although it is very structured there is a fun element to it. It is a bar and people go there to have fun. This helps the image flow with the rest of the images because they are all fun.

In conclusion, my portfolio is something that I have enjoyed shooting and I have made it fun by using what I know and shooting stuff I encounter everyday.
